Product Realisation is the turnkey solution of taking an idea and allowing it to reach its potential by bringing the product to market. Ultimately, this solution can help roll your product off the production line and ship it to customers.
Many innovative ideas never get off the starting blocks because their creators struggle to get the support they need. Who can you turn to when you have an idea, without needing to apply for Dragons’ Den? Some electronics manufacturing companies like ourselves are working with entrepreneurs, inventors and big businesses to help them turn their ideas into reality.
Here’s how it works.
Step 1: The eureka moment!
You, the inventor, have a great idea. Your friends and colleagues think its great too, and after doing a little market research you’re confident that potential consumers would want to buy your product. But at this stage you don’t know how to proceed: how to find out if your product is viable, or how to calculate the costs of manufacturing and the cost to consumers. If your product can be made, will consumers be able to afford it? Does it really solve a problem or meet a desire that will result in sales?
At this point many inventors fail to progress to step 2 – but this is where our years of industry knowledge and experience can help kickstart the process.
Step 2: Design
At EC Electronics we aim to match inventers with people who have the right expertise to facilitate their product ideas. So we recommend design houses with the right background and experience for your idea. If it’s a consumer product the best people to work with are those that have lots of experience designing consumer focused products. Whereas if your idea is for a component that forms part of an industrial system, we’ll suggest design houses with a solid background in that specific sector.
The product designers will work with you to create a design that is functional, cost effective, and contains all the important features of your original concept. They may also be able to suggest ways to modify your design to make it more appealing to your target buyer.
Step 3: Business advice
Now that we have a design to work from, EC Electronics offer our partners support in the form of business advice. This may include advice on obtaining funding for your product, setting up a business, and taking your product to market. Whatever support you need we can help with solid business advice, and put you in touch with further support if needed.
Step 4: Prototyping
Now things start to get exciting! Using your design we can create a prototype so you can see your idea as a fully functioning product. The prototype will be rigorously tested to ensure it does exactly what it is designed to do, and at this stage there is an opportunity to make modifications if necessary. With a completed prototype, you are now ready to take your product to market and start taking orders.
Step 5: Manufacturing
EC Electronics has manufacturing bases in the UK and Europe and will manufacture your product to the highest standards. Our manufacturing services include PCB assembly, box build, cable assembly, low pressure moulding and more. With over 30 years experience we have the capabilities to provide you with the perfect manufacturing process.
Step 6: Distribution
Once your product rolls off the production line you’ll need to ship it to customers. If you require support with global distribution and fulfilment we are able to offer advice as well as our services – we have wholly owned facilities in the UK, Romania and Hong Kong, we will support your global fulfilment and distribution needs.
From step 1 – step 6, we are there throughout
EC Electronics’ Product Realisation Services don’t end when your product is dispatched. We can continue to offer advice and support, helping you to innovate as advances in technology provide opportunities to adapt products or lower costs, and don’t forget – we will continually provide support throughout the process!
