We are thrilled to recognise several staff members for giving EC Electronics a collective 85 years of service!
All five individuals have been integral to our operations for between 10 and 25 years, operating in different parts of the business but with shared motivations behind their enduring success.
Supporting enduring careers for long-term success
We are proud to say that many of our long-serving employees have developed their skills with us from their early careers.
Sam Thompson, an accounts administrator who has also been with us for over 10 years, initially began her career in a part-time role. She then progressively increased her hours and responsibilities and is now an integral cog in the day-to-day management of our operations.
Our supply chain manager, Chris Brown, began his career with EC Electronics more than 11 years ago when he joined the newly formed office in Hong Kong. The office operated under the banner of EC Supply Chain Solutions Ltd at the time until we relocated our supply chain operations to the UK, where Christopher took on the new challenge of developing an EU-centric supply chain to feed into our Romanian factories.
And Geoff Hardisty, now a senior PCB operator, has worked with EC for over 20 years. He started his journey as a contractor before applying for a permanent job opening after enjoying our team’s relaxed, friendly culture. All three of these experienced individuals agree that now is an exciting time to join the electronics manufacturing industry — and EC in particular.
‘Automation is part of the future of electronics, and EC manufactures the parts to help make this happen’, Sam commented.
Chris added: ‘The development of new technologies is driving high demand. So, being able to produce PCBA, cable assembly and full box builds makes EC Electronics perfectly placed to succeed. Our size and geographical positioning have allowed us to establish EC as an industry market leader in the medium-sized EMS category’.
Leading the future of electronics engineering
Phil Simmonds, CEO, has grown EC Electronics from humble beginnings over the last 25 years. He trained and worked in the construction industry for 14 years before joining his father, who set up the company. At the time, they had just six part-time workers making simple cable assemblies. Now, EC Electronics spans multiple global sites and has a network of hundreds of staff.
Prospects for the electronics manufacturing sector are very exciting, and we want EC to be at the forefront of this modern revolution. Kevin Osgood, our group quality manager and a member of EC Electronics’ team for more than 20 years, believes that the reliance on mobile phone apps and internet of things (IoT) infrastructures will continue to soar.
These trends — along with the development of energy-efficient products and recent global supply problems — will be the catalyst for increased investment in western manufacturing of semiconductors to ensure local availability on demand.
‘EC Electronics’ proven flexibility and willingness to invest in new technologies will carry us forward and ensure we remain a first-choice supplier for a diverse range of manufacturing sectors’, Kevin noted.
Thanks to the rapid pace of digitisation, the opportunities for career development in this industry are outstanding across all disciplines. So, we urge anyone interested in a career in electronics manufacturing to seize this opportunity to its fullest advantage. A professional employer that provides broad training across all business areas will set employees on the right path in an industry that can deliver variety, security and personal growth.
We’re proud of our market-leading position, and our proven track record is down to the exceptionally talented individuals we have working for us. If you believe you have what it takes to develop within our company, keep an eye out for available positions on our careers page.
