EC Electronics, the Basingstoke based electronics manufacturing employer, is celebrating its 30th birthday in a year that has seen it named as a regional finalist in the HSBC Global Connections competition and continue to grow 20% year on year even through recession. The birthday celebrations are being held in London with a gala dinner for all staff.
John Simmonds, currently the company’s Chairman, founded EC Electronics in 1984 in Basingstoke. After a couple of moves in the early years, the business has been based at its Rankine Road HQ since 1999 and currently employs 130 people. More recently EC Electronics has established complementary overseas subsidiaries to support its growth: a wholly owned manufacturing centre opened in Romania in 2006 and EC Supply Chain Solutions Ltd was established in Hong Kong in 2011.
Announcing the birthday celebrations Phil Simmonds, Group Managing Director, said, “Electronics manufacturing is as vibrant today as it was when EC was established. The business has grown steadily despite the ups and downs of the market and adding our overseas subsidiaries has enabled us to service our customers in a way that best supports their business requirements.”
He continued, “EC Electronics is a great place to work and will continue to be as we pursue our growth targets. I would like to thank everybody involved over the last 30 years in creating the business we see today. I look forward to celebrating in style with you all.”
