Halfgeleiders! Deze kleine componenten maken al deze elektronische producten mogelijk.<\/p>\n<p>Halfgeleiders bezitten het unieke vermogen om zowel als geleiders als isolatoren te fungeren, afhankelijk van externe factoren zoals temperatuur, spanning of doping (de introductie van onzuiverheden om de geleidbaarheid te veranderen). Hierdoor kunnen elektronicafabrikanten de stroom van elektrische stroom nauwkeurig regelen, waardoor halfgeleiders het perfecte medium zijn voor het maken van componenten in de micro-elektronica, zoals transistors, diodes en microchips (ook wel ge\u00efntegreerde schakelingen genoemd).<\/p>\n<p>De afgelopen decennia heeft geavanceerde chiptechnologie de creatie van snellere, kleinere en energiezuinigere apparaten mogelijk gemaakt \u2013 waarbij het aantal transistors op een microchip ongeveer elke twee jaar verdubbelde, in lijn met de toenemende rekenkracht en effici\u00ebntie.<\/p>\n<p>Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM&#8217;s) kunnen nu miljarden transistors op \u00e9\u00e9n enkele chip plaatsen dankzij de overstap van de industrie van productie op micro- naar nanoschaal.
